YES AND NO STORIES Georgian Folk Tales by George & Helen PAPASHVILY HC 1946 1st

George Papashvily (1898-1978) was a Georgian-American writer and sculptor. He was one of the most famous Georgian emigre artists of the 20th century. He and his wife Helen Waite Papashvily (1906-1996) wrote a number of books based on his life experiences and Georgian culture. Published immediately after WWII, YES AND NO STORIES was dedicated to the "defenders of Stalingrad and Sevastopol--folk heroes of tomorrow." The book is copiously illustrated with woodcut-like drawings by noted artist Simon Lissim (1900-1981).
